Basic Needs of Plants

Plants need sunlight to stay alive. they also need air to stay alive. Without air, plants will die. Plants absorb water from the soil through their roots. They will wilt and die if they do not get enough water.

Plants were observed to grow when their basic needs were satisfied. When some of these needs were removed, the plants began to look sick and die. All living organisms must meet their basic needs or they will not be healthy.

Every organism needs to obtain energy in order to live. For example, plants get energy from the sun, some animals eat plants, and some animals eat other animals.

A food chain is the sequence of who eats whom in a biological community (an ecosystem) to obtain nutrition. A food chain starts with the primary energy source, usually the sun or boiling-hot deep sea vents. The next link in the chain is an organism that make its own food from the primary energy source -- an example is photosynthetic plants that make their own food from sunlight (using a process called photosynthesis) and chemosynthetic bacteria that make their food energy from chemicals in hydrothermal vents. These are called autotrophs or primary producers

They use light energy to change the materials - carbon dioxide and water into food substances (sugars). This process of food productions is called photosynthesis. Only in light can a green plant make food.

Plants are organisms that grow and reproduce their own kind. The need for, air, soil, water, light, and space to grow.Plants need soil. Water and minerals are taken from the soil through roots. Soil also provides support for the plant and an anchor for the roots to grow in. Decaying plants and animals leave behind minerals in the soil that are essential for future plant growth.

Water acts as the solvent for the minerals present in the soil and with the absorption of water from the soil minerals also enters the plant body. While these minerals could not be easily and naturally taken up by the plants if they were in solid state.

Plants needs enough space to stay alive. That depends greatly on the type of plant as there is huge variation between mature sizes. In general, find out the mature spread of the plant and allow for the spread of surrounding plants.

Also take into account the rainfall and other requirements of the plant. You may have to increase the distance if the requirements are scarce in your area. See the link below for a sites that gives information about the size of many plants.

Plants are the only organisms that can convert light energy from the sun into food.  And plants produce ALL of the food that animals, including people, eat.  Even meat.  The animals that give us meat, such as chickens and cows, eat grass, oats, corn, or some other plants.

Basic Needs of Animals

Animals have basic needs to. The basic needs of animals are air, food, water and shelter.Animals need to eat and drink to help them grow and stay healthy.

Animals that eat only plants are called herbivores. Most herbivores, including the giraffe, macaw, ground squirrel, and elephant. Some herbivores, however, are very particular about the plant matter they eat. Wild pandas have evolved to eat nothing but bamboo plants -- a food that is plentiful where they live but not particularly nutritious for bears.

That eat only other animals are called carnivores. Polar bears, sharks, woodpeckers, and anteaters are all carnivores. Like herbivores, however, carnivores may generalize and eat a wide variety of animals, or specialize and eat only one type.

Omnivores are the least choosy about what they eat. These animals, which include raccoons, opossums, and black and grizzly bears, eat both plants and animals, and often eat a wide variety of each. A typical grizzly bear, for example, will eat just about anything it can catch and get its mouth around.

Animals also need shelter to protect them from the sun,the rain and danger.

An animal shelter is a facility that houses homeless, lost, or abandoned animals; primarily a large variety of dogs and cats, parrots, for example, are the third most common pet owned by people. Most parrot shelters are privately run, due to the need for specialized care.

The goal of today's animal shelter is to provide a safe and caring environment until the animal is either reclaimed by its owner, placed in a new home, or placed with another organization.

Basic Needs of Humans

Humans need food, water, air and shelter to stay alive. These are their basic needs. They need food to grow, to get energy and to stay healthy. Humans also need a balanced diet in their food.

Humans need water to stay alive.

Humans need air to breathe. Each breath is shown by the movement of your chest.

They also need shelter to protect themselves from danger, the sun and the rain.

Basic Needs of living things

Life Requirements- Organisms have basic needs. Humans , animals and plants need air, water, food, shelter  and space.  Plants also require light. Humans , plants and animals use food as a source of energy and as a source of building material for growth and repair. Make observations of humans, plants and animals and their interactions.Focus on the needs of each and how they help the organism survive.Make observations on differences of living and nonliving things living things and that living things have specific needs.

Living Things needs basic needs such as air, water, sunlight, food and shelter.
